"For me, art brings to life the beauty in the everyday - the commonalities we relate to, those that may touch us and those that may go unnoticed. Creating a visual experience of this is my inspiration." As much as the subject itself, I'm intrigued by the relationships; between light and shadow, object and edge, movement and stillness, and between the subject and the whole. Through my work, I want to resonate feelings of nostalgia, familiarity, and warmth. I hope to evoke that sense of comfort and connection, and create something beautiful for others to enjoy." Susan is an occasional plein air and mostly studio painter based in Cary, NC. She began her career in advertising and graphic design, but once she picked up a paintbrush, she never put it down. Although she experiments in other media, oils are her medium of choice. Professional affiliations: American Women Artists - signature member, Women Painters of the Southeast, Oil Painters of America, and The American Impressionist Society.
