IAPS-EP, CPP-DM, PSA, AIS, ASMA, ATWS Native to the Chicago area, Kathleen combines a sense of focused observation and sensitive interpretation in her award winning pastel, oil and gouache paintings, specializing in harbor settings, landscape and urban living. She strives to capture a certain mood of the moment and bring that subtle nuance to the painting, using color, light and shapes that help create a sense of place. Kathleen continues to be inspired by sailing on Lake Michigan, walks through the city near her studio and enjoying nature close to home at the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore. She has received the prestigious Eminent Pastelist designation and Masters Circle award from the International Association of Pastel Societies, Chicago Pastel Painters Master, and a Signature Member of the Pastel Society of America, the American Impressionist Society, the American Society of Marine Artists, and the American Transparent Watercolor Society. She is also a member of the historic Palette & Chisel Academy of Fine Arts, Coast Guard Artists Program, and Oil Painters of America. Her work has been published in Best of Portraits, Northlight Books, numerous articles in Pastel Journal, Artists Magazine, International Artists Magazine as well as the international French journal, Practique des Arts. Her work is held in private and corporate collections and she currently teaches weekly pastel, watercolor, gouache and urban sketching classes at the historic Old Town Art Center in Chicago as well as online and in-person workshops throughout the country. Kathleen has earned signature status in the Pastel Society of America, American Society of Marine Artists, and American Transparent Watercolor Society and is a member of the historic Palette & Chisel Academy of Fine Arts, Chicago Pastel Painters, Coast Guard Artists, American Impressionist Society, and Oil Painters of America.
