His gift was recognized early, and after starting at regular school, he was transferred to a school that specialized in drawing and engineering. These fields proved to be too rigid and too technical for the emerging artist who was finding his own voice. One of his professors said, "Christian always has an idea to give our technical drawings an artistic value." His first and foremost tutor was his father, the celebrated landscape artist Gerhard Nesvadba. His first paintings were done at his father's easel where he gained an immense knowledge of drawing, color, and composition. He very soon developed his own fresh style and sense of color.
