Zhou Peng is a fine art photographer from Shanghai, China. Formally trained as an oil painter, Peng soon turned to commercial photography, but also kept a passion for fine art photography. His semi-abstract photographs explore the fusion of multiple cultures and concepts leading to new ways of seeing and thinking. He is currently an MFA candidate in the photography department at the Savannah College of Art and Design. His central inspiration derives from Chinese philosophy, and his aesthetic direction is inspired by Chinese painting—the Cavalier Perspective, Line, Void, Qi (Spirit-resonance and Life-movement)—and Western oil painting—Color and Color Tone, Light and Shadow, and Third Dimensions. Peng’s work has won photography awards including at the Prix de la Photographie Paris and at the Moscow International Foto Awards, and his work has been exhibited internationally.
