Kim Barrick, painter, writer, seeker is as diverse and complex as the work she creates. Deflecting labels, challenging authority she ponders life, paint and words with wonder. A light and shadow painter, her artwork evokes Expressive Impressionism with every stroke. “Alive with light and filled with movement” define her work in all genres. Recognized early as a “Top Talent” by Santa Fean Magazine, Barrick has since garnered awards, and inclusion in numerous juried exhibits, group, and solo shows. A sought-after instructor of landscape and still life painting, she is also a noted wildlife artist. Barrick was born, raised, and educated in Colorado, then a part-time resident while also living in Nashville, Tennessee. Her work is represented by galleries in both the South and West with numerous artworks held in private and corporate collections throughout the Americas, Europe, and Asia. Her large corporate commissions hang in outstanding structures in Tennessee. In 2001, Barrick founded The Chestnut Group www.chestnutgroup.org nationally recognized as the premier plein air/conservation art organization in the United States. In addition, Barrick, a signature member of PAAC Plein Air Artists of Colorado, was instrumental in establishing Wild About Colorado supporting The Continental Divide Land Trust (now Colorado Open Lands). She serves the land she loves as a past member of Friends of Radnor Lake Board of Directors and continues to support emerging artists as a mentor and former board member of the Arts and Business Council of Greater Nashville.
