Andrée B. Carter was born and raised in New Orleans. She has lived in Seattle and Los Angeles, and now resides in Palm Desert. Andrée received an MFA from The University of New Orleans and BS from Loyola University in New Orleans (Cum Laude). She also studied art history in Florence, Italy through a Tulane University summer program. "My painting is equally about color, mark making, and improvisation. The work is not so much about process as about finding out what results from process.I developed my addiction to color and visual rhythms in New Orleans; then combined that understanding of color with the nuanced textures of the verdant northwest. I continue to explore color and texture through the unbelievable diversity that Los Angeles has to offer. My collage methods range from adding paper, fabric and my own needlepoint methods.
