Julie Shelton Snyder is a printmaker and painter based in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Julie views her work in the studio as an integral part of her spiritual practice as a contemplative Christian. In 2018, Julie participated in the artist-in-residence program sponsored by the Mokuhanga Innovation Laboratory (MI-LAB), learning traditional woodblock printmaking techniques while living at the base of Mt Fuji. She feels a strong affinity with the contemplative nature of the Japanese aesthetic, and she is drawn to mokuhanga because of its focus on natural materials. She enjoys teaching mokuhanga and also facilitates workshops focused on creativity as a spiritual practice.Julie’s work has been exhibited in solo and group shows throughout the US, as well as in Japan.
