There is a stream of energy - deep and continuous, which flows through, and is connected to everything in the universe. Concentrating and meditating on color, texture, and atmosphere that resonate the vibrations of water, earth, fire, and air – as well as the deepest reaches of outer and inner space, connects us to that primal source. The intention in creating this work is to connect the viewer directly to the abundant energy, love, and beauty present in our environment. My reason for sharing it is to promote a greater sense of well-being, peace, and harmony in our everyday lives, hearts, and minds. My current work is influenced by Japanese Urushi, an age-old technique famous in Kagawa - the region in which I live and work. "Urushi" (lacquer ware), involves the build-up and polishing of multiple layers of color upon intricately carved or textured surfaces. The process of layering and wiping away is directly connected to the effect, found throughout nature, of accretion and erosion. To me, it is the embodiment of the breath of the earth over the millennia in building mountains and then reducing them, eventually, to dust. – Adam Weston
