My artistry emerges from the enthrallment I feel for Mother Nature’s beauty. Drawing from the seeds, flowers and leaves that grow at Hortus Arboretum and Botanic Garden – a level two arboretum I founded with my husband, another visual artist, nearly 25 years ago – I endeavor to create aesthetically stimulating paintings. The constituent plant matter is encased in wax, which preserves it as something of an ex-situ seed library; if a plant in one of my paintings ever became extinct, its owner could remove its seeds and grow it anew.
