Kathryn Hunter grew up in Decatur, Alabama surrounded by good north Alabama storytellers and embellishers. After one year of college, she went looking for adventure in the tall mountains of Montana and Wyoming where she resided for almost ten years. She earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in printmaking from Montana State University, Bozeman in 1999. She returned to the south in 2000 to attend graduate school at Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge. In 2003, she earned a Master of Fine Arts in printmaking. Currently, Hunter continues to make art in addition to operating a custom, letterpress printing business called Blackbird Letterpress in Baton Rouge.
