Page Eastburn O’Rourke is a Maine painter whose vibrant compositions channel a spirit of joy, memory, and emotional expression. Page paints with bold color, graphic shapes, and layered patterns that invite viewers into a world of wonder and connection. Her work reimagines coastal Maine landscapes and personal memories through an expressive lens, offering viewers what a fellow artist once described as “a beautiful reprieve.” A longtime Portland Art Gallery artist, Page’s evolution from her earlier “Pop Folk Art” style—well-known for its detail and structure—marks a profound creative shift. “It felt like a lightning bolt,” she recalls of the moment in Paris when she first encountered vivid abstract textiles along the Left Bank. That inspiration led her to study abstracting the landscape, loosen her approach, and begin painting from a deeper emotional place. Her paintings reflect her lifelong love of Maine, often drawing from memory—like trips to Monhegan Island or views of the Lubec lighthouse, represented with playful shapes, patterns, and textures. “I want to create a universal feeling,” Page explains. “People may not know the specific memory I had, but I want them to bring their own story to the painting.” From reimagining Maine’s coastlines in paint to fostering connection through her daily life, Page infuses everything she does with warmth, creativity, and compassion. Her journey into art began with a childhood fascination for bold visual storytelling, which crystallized during a formative visit to the Philadelphia Museum of Art where Pop Art made a lasting impression. She went on to study Fine Art at Trinity College and illustration at Parsons School of Design after graduating from George School, a Quaker school in Newtown, Pennsylvania. Today, she lives in Yarmouth, Maine with her husband Kevin in a home filled with local artwork—much of it collected from fellow artists she’s met through the Portland Art Gallery. A believer in the energy of art and the people who make it, Page continues to find fulfillment in both creative growth and the community that surrounds it.
