A painting feels complete when it carries that spark of magic- a connection between my vision and the emotions I hope to evoke in my viewer. When I feel the piece, my hope is others will experience the same freedom and delight. My art celebrates the values I've embraced throughout my life: a sense of community, connection, and joy. I have a creative pull to paint a series of still lifes that incorporate meaningful subject matter from my life- a basket of blueberries picked with my sons, flowers from my mother's beautiful gardens, and vases that were a wedding present. I paint in acrylics on birch panels and I focus on incorporating abstract textures with visible brush strokes and adding layers of pattern printed from found materials. A defining moment for me was visiting the Philadelphia Museum of Art as a teenager, where I first encountered the bold, bright colors and striking imagery of Pop Art. That momentary feeling of delight left a lasting impression and continues to inspire my work. Through my ongoing exploration of color, texture, and abstract forms, my art is an expression of the joy I seek to share with the world. I graduated from George School, a Quaker school in Newtown, Pennsylvania, and went on to major in Fine Art at Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut. I also studied illustration at Parsons School of Design, all of which have shaped my artistic journey. I live in Yarmouth, Maine with my husband Kevin in a home filled with colorful, local art. It is said that art carries energy of the artist who painted it and I feel especially grateful to know many of the artist in our collection.
