Maria Bruckman’s art focuses on the human body. Maria explores the relationships and attitudes of how we treat, view, and perceive our bodies. Our bodies, just like our views and tastes, are unique and beautiful in their own special ways. Through this series of porcelain work, covered in cell-like adornments, Maria encourages the viewers to embrace and celebrate the splendor and individuality of their bodies. Maria’s thinly cast and hand-pinched vessels draw parallels between the fragility and strength of porcelain and of the human body. The smaller scale and highly detailed finishes play an important role in her work as she likes to bring viewers closer to her pieces, allowing a pause, and to create a more intimate moment in the viewing of her work.
