Jean Claude Roy is a prolific, self-taught, and widely acclaimed artist. He works mostly with oils and describes his style as "expressionist-colourist." He applies paint thickly, with a brush or palette knife, and the resulting marks convey a sense of motion, energy, and texture. Since the late 1980’s a characteristic of his landscapes has been his signature sun, adding light to the landscape below. He is represented by galleries in Canada, the United States and France, and his works form part of many public and private collections.
