"Oil paintings, particularly the work of the impressionists, have attracted me for as long as I can remember. Retirement afforded me the opportunity to explore the idea of creating my own art. Through workshops and self-study, I discovered a latent passion. I’ve learned that seeing is the prerequisite to making an impressionistic picture…observing the effect of light on color and finding colors in the shadows. The pursuit of capturing these effects in oil paint is exhilarating. I believe my 'style' or 'voice' as a painter is evolving, but I see myself as an American Impressionist specializing in oil."
