She teaches pastel workshops across the U.S., in France, Ireland and Italy. Creating art has been a continual voyage for me. Learning how to draw: perspective, anatomy, value, color. Learning how to paint: composition, simplifying shapes, mixing colors, brush technique, texture, creating the illusion of dimension on a two-dimensional surface. Learning to sculpt, working in 3 dimensions. I am still eager to learn more. Art has been the main focus in my life, something grounding when life didn’t make sense. Whether it’s at the easel or in the classroom, it is the place I escape to where the noises around me and in my head go quiet. It is my safe place. I am not trying to communicate a message in my work; that would only add to the noise. I am trying to craft something of beauty; something of the beautiful light and color around us.
