After 30 years of practicing Obstetrics and Gynecology, and having lived my whole life believing that I had no artistic ability whatsoever, I suddenly became an artist. While visiting my parents in Florida in 2016, on a rainy, boring day, my mother remembered she had some acrylic paint, and asked me if I wanted to paint with her. My initial reaction was to decline, but I honestly had nothing better to do, and so an hour later I had created my first painting. It was not a masterpiece, but I immediately recognized the feelings of joy, satisfaction, focus, and creativity that I felt while painting, and so on my return to New Hampshire, I trekked to Michael’s and bought some paint and canvases. Four years later, my life has been dramatically changed. I still practice medicine, but my time away from my patients is now consumed with learning about and creating art. I have embraced a style where light, itself, is the star of the show. My bold, simple designs, which have been compared to Hopper, have been shown in several galleries in New England, and grace the walls of a growing number of collectors, and I am the recipient of a number of awards and honors (the idea of which would have made me laugh in disbelief just 2 or 3 years ago).
