Kellie is an exciting and dynamic artist, and her works of art seem to jump off the canvas with stunning texture, vibrant color, and vitality. Currently, she specializes in a range of works on canvas, wood, and paper. Her subject matter often focuses on plants and animals with a loose and expressive abstract style emphasizing line structure to celebrate the details. Born on a small farm in Eufaula, Alabama, Kellie spent most of her time outside and began creating at an early age. She attended and graduated from Troy University with a Bachelors of Fine Arts. In college, Kellie focused on painting and print-making and enjoyed combining materials in her work. Chroma’s Atelier Interactive brand of paint sponsored Kellie early in her career while she was attending college, and she continues to collaborate with Chroma. "My childhood began on a farm. The smells, the sounds and the colors all around inspired me. The connection becomes evident when your eyes lock with another creature. The posture, the strength and their features are all facing you. They are strong and calculated. I want to celebrate their structure giving them shape from within. Adding bright punches of color to show their strength, and then soft pastels to celebrate their beauty. Then adding layers of transparent paint and pencil to create movement and life." "Flowers are my first love. Particularly wildflowers. Delicate stems with a small punch of attractive pedals. I painted them for years and took breaks for years. Always searching for the right way to celebrate their beauty. I use a collection of floral photographers and designers as inspiration. I used their resources for these delicate and rare flowers while incorporating some of my childhood wildflowers. I want to create beauty with depth, lines to suggest structure, and paints to emphasize the most delicate qualities. The arrangement must be open wide, full of light and air. Symbolizing hope and gratitude. Celebrating something we can not imagine on our own - the beauty of nature."
