t.w.five is an international art duo formed by Swedish and Brazilian artists based in Sweden and San Francisco. They are known to make very colorful artwork that viewers connect and interact with. All shapes are hand-cut into strips from large rolls of solid-colored, adhesive-backed vinyl and then carefully applied to a surface of the work. They often create on a massive scale and integrate the gallery space with their art. Within the foundation of their work, t.w.five embraces and honors the beauty and integrity of the individual, as well as the significance of a group dynamic sacred within a community. They have shaped their identity through an unwavering awareness and belief in the essence of community, the value of one's place in the world, and are consistently inspired by changes that have been fought for so heroically in the past. That inspiration, common cause, and strength and integrity of character are the steps from which to continuously build upon now. They have received nominations for The Fleishhacker Foundation Eureka Fellowship and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art SECA Award in 2012, 2016 and 2018. t.w.five has participated in artist residencies at de Young Museum in 2016, The Headlands Center for the Arts in 2015 and finished two additional residencies in 2013 at Lademoen Kunstnerverksteder, Trondheim, Norway and Sula Fyr, Sula, Norway. They have also worked on several big public art commissions throughout the city of San Francisco and in Silicon Valley, for companies such as Google, Facebook, GoDaddy, Adobe, Group i , Chekr. stARTup Art Fair, Hotel SLO and Hotel CitizenM.
