Lisa Gloria is a contemporary realist painter working in the classical oil tradition. Based in Aurora, Illinois, just outside Chicago, she creates luminous still lifes, florals, portraits, and interiors that blend technical precision with emotional depth and a modern sensibility. Her work invites a quiet exchange between artist, subject, and viewer, exploring light, texture, and the intimate beauty of everyday objects. “To me, every painting is a conversation with the viewer. I like to employ primarily realism, but also abstraction and decorative elements in order to direct the conversation in subtle ways. My ultimate goal is to leave the viewer feeling intrigued and satisfied.” Deeply influenced by French realist masters such as Henri Fantin Latour, as well as American luminaries like John Singer Sargent and contemporary mentors including Michael Klein and Jeremy Lipking, Lisa paints with energy and directness, grounded in a deep respect for tradition. Her self taught path developed alongside roles as a writer, musician, gardener, and mother of four, bringing a sense of warmth and lived experience to her work. Lisa’s oils have been exhibited and collected nationally. She has been featured in Southwest Art as part of their “21 Under 31” series, as well as in Principle Gallery exhibitions and publications and regional showcases.
