Well known for the quality and elegance of his prints, Moscow-based artist Vadim Gushchin removes objects from their conventional environment and situational context. By isolating the object and placing it center-frame, Gushchin draws keen attention to the subject, suggesting the purity and form of the object. His photographs have the cool simplicity of a still-life integrated with minimal details that suggest a human presence.Vadim Gushchin was born in Novosibirk, Russia in 1963 and graduated from the Moscow Energy Institute in 1986. Gushchin has exhibited in numerous solo and group shows at institutions across the globe, including the National Center for Contemporary Art in Moscow, the Dallas Art Fair, the Grand Palais, and the Museum of the History of Photography in Saint Petersburg. His work can be found in public and private collections, such as the Moscow Museum of Modern Art, the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts, and The Museum de Arte Moderna, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
