Whitney Knapp Bowditch received her BFA from Denison University, and her MFA from The Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. She is a Virginia-based painter and art educator, who teaches at Virginia Commonwealth University, and has also taught drawing and painting courses at various community colleges in Virginia and Maryland.Her paintings have been exhibited nationally and featured in magazines and on book covers. Her work is in private and corporate collections throughout the United States and abroad.Much of Whitney’s work is focused on the atmospheric relationship between the sky and the attendant land or sea. She is interested in the physicality of oil paint and the infinite ways it can be applied to a surface.
