Treestump WoodcraftsTumacacori, Arizona For over 40 years, Christine Sisco has been crafting heirloom-quality wooden wares that transform everyday objects into works of art. As co-founder of Treestump Woodcrafts, a family-run business based in Tumacacori, Arizona, Christine works alongside her husband Ron and their son Ron Jr. to create beautifully functional pieces that celebrate the natural beauty of wood. Each handmade item—whether a breadboard, bowl, utensil, or piece of furniture—embodies Christine’s belief that art should be a part of daily life. Drawing inspiration from an ancient Chinese art form she studied in college, Christine embraces the natural flaws in wood—knots, cracks, and voids—and elevates them using inlays of turquoise, malachite, river rock, and other stones. These embellishments, set in food-safe epoxy, enhance the wood’s character while preserving its durability and usability. Working primarily with sustainably sourced domestic hardwoods such as mesquite, cherry, and black walnut, Christine and her family bring a reverence for material and craftsmanship to every creation. The result is a collection of pieces that are not only functional and enduring, but strikingly beautiful—often described as “too pretty to use,” yet made to last for generations. Their work has earned a devoted following and is featured in galleries across the country, including the K Newby Gallery. Whether used in the kitchen or displayed as sculpture, their pieces invite people to live with beauty, purpose, and intention.
