Born in Fort Monroe, Virginia in 1943 Ron Shuebrook is an American born, Canadian abstract artist. Along with being an artist, he also teaches and writes. Over the course of his lifetime, Shuebrook has been able to paint alongside some noteable artists - Robert Motherwell and Allan Kaprow, as well as learning from mentor Peter Gee. His teachers often fell into the first generation of abstract expressionism, and so his work is viewed as geometric abstraction, often making work by marking and erasing shapes and lines. Shuebrook has been collected by over 50 public institutions and private collectors such as the National Gallery of Canada, the AGO, and NASCAD. He is currently a member of the RCA, and teaches at OCAD.
