Graduated from the National Art Academy in Sofia, Bulgaria. He uses classical etching techniques in his work to recreate contemporary forms and subjects. His focus and interests are the black and white graphics and the old traditional techniques. Lately he has been giving more attention to mezzotint and trying to refine this technique. There is a softness, deepness and mysticism in it, which allows tones to appear from the darkest black to the lightest. Vasil Angelov is a member of the well-known art group PRINT NEST in Bulgaria – again dedicated to the graphic arts as a specific approach to art.
