"My work is a compilation of images that are stories. I believe the smallest moments in life hold the most weight and I seek to elevate those quiet moments." PROCESSUsing layers of fabric, Sharon Tesser tells stories, creating images, using recycled and vintage fabric, pattern, texture, and paint, that celebrate the beauty of the world around us. Her images are generated as original drawings from her sketchbook. There is something wonderful created when the artist's hand creates a line. Sharon has noticed that our lives as individuals are messy and complex. We have frayed edges and open seams. We as people are the patchwork of our individual experiences: love, joy, pain, and sorrow. Sharon's art is the expression of that journey. Her original designs take note of life’s simple moments, encouraging the viewer to find the extraordinary joy existing around us every day. The art is created using layers of fabric. The images are all from original sketches, no computers or photography are used. The fabrics used are exclusively natural fibers; cotton and silk-vintage, recycled, and hand-dyed cloth. All artwork is sealed with an archival seal which provides UV protection allowing the work to be framed without glass. There is no danger of the artwork fading. The artwork is not sensitive to humidity and The surface of the art can be dusted or cleaned with a damp cloth. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCEBachelor of Fine Arts Washington University - St Louis - Focus IllustrationStudio Art Center International - Florence ItalyIllustrator for St Louis Post Dispatch, Little Brown, McGraw Hill, Lark Publishing AWARDS- Smithsonian Fine Craft Show, Participant, 2024 - Art Festival Beth El, Award of Distinction, 2024- Bethesda Row Art Festival, Best of Show-Fiber, 2023-Park City Kimball Arts Festival, Best of Show-Fiber, 2023-Main St Fort worth Art Festival, Juror's Award, 2022-Brookside Art Festival, Featured Artist, 2021
