Tyler Kimball has been working with blown glass since 1999. Prior to returning to his hometown of Kansas City to build his studio, Kimball lived and worked as a glass artist in Seattle and Portland. Currently Kimball owns and operates Monarch Glass Studio in the historic 18th and Vine district of Kansas City. Tyler has shown his work in galleries and museums internationally. Additionally, he has been invited to multiple colleges and institutions throughout the United States as a visiting artist. Some of his more recent artist-in-resident stints were at the Museum of Glass in Tacoma, Washington, Pilchuck Studios in Seattle, and a month-long featured artist residency at Salem State University in Massachusetts. Tyler works with transparency and line-play to achieve motion and pattern in his glass. He is always pushing the limits of color, pattern and shape. Leopold Gallery has placed several of his iconic Shuttlecock Sculptures, and has collaborated with him on large corporate commissions. Kimball’s work has been added to many collections throughout the country, including Salem State University, OR; the Columbus College of Art and Design, OH; and Cordish Companies, MD. In the Kansas City area his collectors include Commerce Bank, Sosland Publishing; Saint Luke’s Health System, Fishtech, Church of the Resurrection, CrossFirst Bank and Creative Planning Wealth Management.
