The son of a commerical illustrator, Nick Gadbois was born in Iowa City and grew up in Minneapolis. At an early age, he was exposed to different kinds of artwork including Abstract Expressionism, Pop and Surrealism. He squandered his natural artistic talents in the 70s by playing in rock and roll bands. Nick started painting seriously in the 1980s and began showing in galleries in Los Angeles. His work has been shown on the national level and is included in numerous public, corporate and private collections. In 2004 he received his undergraduate art degree from Portland State University and in 2007 got his MFA in painting from Vermont College. In 2015 he moved to Kansas City where his work has been shown in several galleries. He has developed a unique approach to landscape through use of mood and a vivid color palette.
