Janet Byrne studied fine art in Toronto, concentrating on photography and graphic arts. With her knowledge of design principles and her eye for composing interesting abstract photographs and graphics, she immersed herself in and experimented with art glass techniques. Specializing in stained glass for many years, Janet does all her work using the copper foil method made famous by Louis Comfort Tiffany. Janet enjoys the challenges and discovery process of experimental projects. When she engages in a project or theme, she often makes several variations using different combinations of colours and textures. She finds inspiration for her projects everywhere, observing shapes and colours in nature and in man-made objects. Janet only makes pieces that she would love to have in her own home. She plans her pieces carefully and meticulously crafts them. Her stained glass art can be found in homes and offices in Europe, North America, and Australia.
