Adrian Chu Redmond is an international award-winning artist with a poetic eye and desire to bring energy and expression into everyday life. She draws inspiration from colors in nature, aiming to capture a fleeting moment, emotion or sensation while utilizing bold brush strokes, strong palette knife markings and vivid hues to characterize her work. Adrian finds beauty in the overlooked and channels those moments to express her vision of the world. Through her unique style of realism and abstraction, she brings energy into her subjects by making them appear larger than life. Adrian exhibits in the United States and Europe, and has received the Rassegna Internazionale d’Arte Contemporanea International Art Award in Bologna, Italy. She was also chosen as the only American to attend an artist-in-residency program in Peschici, Italy with others from around the world. Adrian’s work is featured at an award winning Southeast Timbers Resort. Her artwork is on the book cover of “Duress & Desire” by Greg Jeffers. She celebrates being an artist chosen for Charlotte Business Journal’s 2019-2020 Book of Lists and is excited about the 2 public sunflower art pieces curated and on display in the Southend of Charlotte, NC. One of her most challenging accomplishments and most enriching life experiences was hiking across the French Pyrenees and northern Spain on the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage. Artist Statement: What I enjoy most about painting is the challenge of taking simple everyday subjects, which are typically unnoticed, and giving them life and energy through the use of bold gestural strokes. I love that art is “expression without words” which continually inspires me to explore my own unique style.
