Growing up in her grandmother's art gallery, Keri developed a deep connection to the art around her. This flourished into a lifelong passion for seeing the world through the artist's eye and connecting with others through visual art. Learning to paint and draw in early childhood, Keri found solace and joy in creating and experiencing art. This love of art is evident as Keri paints, teaches art in the gallery, hosts creative events, and represents the Mississippi artists at Pacesetter Gallery in Flowood, MS. All the members of her family shared an entrepreneurial spirit. Her mother owned a dance studio and choreographed musicals and Keri acted and sang in musicals through the years and took ballet, tap and jazz classes. Time spent in the gallery and the local opera house taught her that there are many ways to express yourself and everyone has different talents and inspirations that drive them to create. This insight, paired with her curiosity and participation in cultural arts, is what fuels the diverse cultural events held at the gallery today. Keri attended The University of North Texas graduating with a studio BFA with an Emphasis on Art Education. She graduated from the Getty Institute program which gave Keri multi-disciplinary teaching skills, tying art to history, writing, science, and math, showing how art connects in the world. Keri also studied classical and jazz vocal performance at North Texas, which led to 2 years of singing with national rhythm and funk band, Mingo Fishtrap. Interweaving music, theatre, art and other create ways to express herself and these influences can all be found in her art. A visit to Pacesetter gallery will welcome you with soulful tunes and wonderful scents to accompany a diverse mix of art and unique gifts from talented Mississippi artists. Curating and sharing the gallery experience is also a part of her artistic expression. Keri works in water media and mixed media acrylic, creating work that is color-driven and expressive. She is a printmaker and jewelry artist. Her goal to help others find comfort and inspiration in the arts. Layered and rich in color and texture, each piece includes intuitive elements.
