A professional artist for over 40 years, Priscilla Nelson’s artistic journey is both rich and varied. Like many, her path began as a child with a passion for drawing, but her true foundation was shaped by exceptional high school art teachers who inspired her technical growth and creativity. Yet, Priscilla credits her parents most of all: they nurtured her talent from a young age, ensuring that every birthday and Christmas brought the gift of new art supplies and the encouragement to explore her creativity. At a pivotal moment, when considering a potential career in biology, her father’s words, “Life is not a dress rehearsal…this life is your only chance to be the artist that you are,” gave her the courage to fully embrace her calling as an artist. From then on, she dedicated herself to a life of art. Priscilla’s primary medium is oil on canvas, and her work predominantly features contemporary, realistic figurative pieces that explore themes of people, clothing, and water. A keen observer of human movement and style, Priscilla’s inspiration comes from the world around her, with a focus on how people express themselves through their clothing. Her fascination with water emerged when she moved to Scottsdale, AZ, where its scarcity gave her a fresh appreciation for the element. This inspiration is reflected in her paintings, where her models are often depicted immersed in water, capturing the fluid interplay of light, reflections, and movement. Beyond her figurative work, Priscilla also takes on commissioned projects, creating landscapes, automotive, and aviation pieces, as well as large-scale works. Her art is celebrated in private and public collections both in the United States and abroad. Priscilla is a member of the Oil Painters of America and the International Guild of Realism, and she currently resides in Scottsdale, AZ,
