Carl Ortman lives his dreams -- his dream as a painter, world explorer, and seeker of knowledge. His artistic vision represents the whole of his life experiences. Carl is a consummate student who loves learning and honing his craft, often popping into art schools for a quick session during his travels. Domestically, he's studied in New York City, Ohio, Arizona, California, and Colorado; internationally, he's studied in London, Argentina, Greece, Mexico, and Florence, Italy. Carl loves to paint live. The excitement of an audience spurs Carl to push artistic boundaries while engaging with the crowd. Carl's painted live at a Jack Johnson concert, a New Orleans Jazz festival, and multiple weddings and corporate events, and you'll often find him on a street, boardwalk, dock, or the side of the mountain with a paintbrush in hand. Carl studies and paints with some of the finest artists, including Kim English, Michelle Torez, Walt Gonske, Dan Thompson, Max Ginsburg, and Joshua Been. Carl may be rock climbing, mountain biking, or painting in his mobile studio when he is not painting on location or participating in an art show.
