Burton Uhr was born January 11, 1943 in Chicago, Illinois. He studied at the School of the Chicago ArtInstitute and the Chicago Academy of Fine Art. After that he worked as a commercial graphics artist for many years.With the help of a Ford Foundation Scholarship Burton studied at the Art Students League of New York with Robert Brackman and Robert Beverly Hale.More recently Burton has studied with Richard Halstead in Chicago and Daniel Greene in New York.An Illustrator and Graphic Designer for 30 years with accounts such as Sears, Montgomery Wards and J.C. Penneys.He raised two children with his beloved wife. After she passed, he moved to Hawai’i. He is an avid waterman. He enjoys spending time on the water with his senior paddling club, his children and granddaughter and painting moments of everyday life in the islands.
