Debbie Wozniak-Bonk is a prairie girl at heart, having been raised on a farm near Corning in southeast Saskatchewan. She graduated from the University of Regina with a Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in painting. Since graduation, Debbie has had a successful career with many solo and group exhibitions.“I have a persistent quest in my work to express beauty, to reach outward and inward to describe the truth of the human spirit. I am fascinated with the concept that the natural world is designed to be beautiful, inspiring and healing,” says Debbie.“In this body of work I explore the tenuous relationship of human structures in the prairie environment. The buildings are both ambiguous and ambivalent as they are becoming part of the prairie landscape. For me these abandoned buildings represent not only the changes that have occurred with regards to agricultural practices in Saskatchewan, but also speak of our own personal relationship that we have with nature.”
