Atlanta native, Nancy Talero, finds joy in creating beauty and balance in interior spaces, exploring how art on a wall can engage with other elements in the space in unconventional or unexpected ways. This theme of integration is inherent in her most recent work. Each piece is a set of originally designed, hand-painted, solid wood panels that juxtapose clean lines with raw texture, mathematical order with uncontrived beauty, the synthetic with the organic. The shapes play with our sense of depth, dimension and perspective, and the hardwood is carefully selected, finished and configured to showcase unique grains and coloration in tandem with the painted portions. The subject has a relationship with the whitespace, just as each shape is in relationship with the others. Nancy has a BA in Studio Art, drawing and sculpture, from Washington & Lee University. She studied art history and figure drawing in Florence, Italy. She is also a graduate of Portfolio Center with a degree in graphic design and has work experience in both NYC and Atlanta, where she currently lives.
