Kelly EtidloieCape Dorset, NunavutCarver Kellipallik Etidloie is a Cape Dorset artist, born in 1966. His biological mother passed away shortly after his birth, and was adopted to his mother Kingmeata Etidloi a graphic artist, and father Etidloi Etidloi a carver, Kelly is most known for his carvings of narwhals, muskox and inuksuit. He learned to carve by watching and helping his older siblings and elders. At the age of 15 he carved his first piece, a bird - and continued to hone his skills. In his early career Etidloie moved to Montreal for 5 years to work at Polar North and refine his skills. During this time he was given amazing opportunities to meet and learn from many artists including, Moe Pootoogook, Markoosie Papigatok, Teevee Atsealak and Pauloosie Joanasie. Eventually, Kellipalik decided to move back to Cape Dorset, where he continues to work today. His work has been exhibited in Canada, the United States, France, Germany, and Switzerland.
