Mary OkheenaInuvik, Northwest TerritoriesDrawing and Printmaking Artist Mary Okheena is a drawing and printmaking artist from Inuvik, NWT. Mary comes from a long line of talented artists like her father Jimmy Memorana who founded the Holman Island Eskimo Cooperative, and her aunt Agnes Nanogak a prolific drawing and printmaking artist. Mary worked at the Holman Print Shop at a young age where she learned the art of print making, and eventually began printing her own works at the shop. she eventually became the longest working printmaker at the Holman Print Shop. Mary's pieces are often made using her own specific stencil technique and often depict abstract human and animal forms, also inspired by children's facial expressions.
