Christopher Owen Nelson is a Colorado native. He studied fine arts at Rocky MountainCollege of Art and Design where he learned classical methods in drawing and painting.While developing a deep appreciation for composition and form, Christopher focused onalternative materials; sculpting with found objects and painting on discarded glasssurfaces. His material prowess began with his work in commercial construction— gainingvaluable knowledge in concrete, steel and woodworking. The kind of knowledge that hasprovided the substructure for his new and innovative artistic approach.For Christopher, critical attention and art world accolades have been swift andabundant. Early honors include the Painting Award, at Cambridge Art Association’s 15thNational Prize Show, and a permanent exhibition in Meow Wolf Denver’s ConvergenceStation. His achievements have been featured in several national publications, including:Western Art Collector; Luxe Interiors and Design; Western Art and Architecture; SantaFe magazine, and American Art Collector. Through prestigious exhibitions andcollections, his artworks have traveled the globe. Early into his career, Christopher boastsover a dozen solo exhibitions in addition to numerous private and public acquisitions.Christopher is also an avid musician. His music informs his state of being and his artisticoutput. He is an artist with empathy for the bold and the downtrodden - the city dwellerand the naturalist. A consistent thread that runs throughout all of his work is a need totransform shadow and grit into something bright and smooth.
