Artist statement In her work Florence Montmare explores the themes of home, identity and transience. She tells personal stories that are specific, yet universal, often returning to similar subjects but exploring them in different ways, peeling off layers, touching upon visceral aspects of life whether it is in a film, a photograph, a performance or an installation. Approaching these narratives with a sense of expanded time, she allows the viewer to contemplate a deeper meaning buried within the language of a world that resides between dream and reality — a realm of images, memories and fragmented tales.
