Christina began painting at an early age. She spent countless hours creating, experimenting, and exploring with water and oil-based media for their potential to bring life to familiar scenes. Born in Orillia, Ontario, Christina eventually moved to Canada’s west coast. Here, she marveled at the way light, temperature, and weather could transform the appearance of mountains and landscapes. Known for her bold and compelling landscapes, immersion in nature is an essential part of Christina’s artistic process. Her palette favours neutral colours and strong contrasts to create form, depth, and feeling. Her compositions and brush strokes are purposeful and deliberate. “My artwork is a tribute to nature and to our dependence on the natural environment. We know from research that being in nature or even viewing scenes of nature has a positive effect on our mental health and well-being. When I create a landscape, I’m trying to tap into centuries of evolution that inextricably link our well-being to nature. I want my landscapes to be felt. I want the viewer to feel the temperature, the humidity, the weather, the stillness. I want them to draw on their own experiences as they conjure the sound of a distant rockfall echoing faintly across a valley floor, or the feeling of absolute quiet while standing before a foggy alpine tarn.” Christina lives with her husband, two sons, and dog, Rook, in Lantzville, Canada. Her work can be found in private and corporate collections across North American and Europe.
