Jade Robertson, was born in Chester, England in 1976 and is an abstract artist living in Paris and Brooklyn. “He who jumps into the void owes no explanation to those who stand and watch” ~ Jean-Luc Godard. I am a risk taker in life and painting. I have moved several time throughout my life, from London to New York, New York to Vieques, Puerto Rico and now Paris. I have also travelled extensively. I love the contrast. Many of my paintings are thus influenced by the sights, sounds and colors of different places around the world. I want to eco the feeling, the energy of a place in my art. I began my career after completing a print degree at the University of east London, after a sell out show at New Designers, Islington to the US textile market I moved to New York. I have always painted and more recently been experimenting with mixed media, combinations of ink and powder pigment, pen and pencil. I am deeply moved by colour, negative space and the contrast of light and dark, calm and chaos. This world is all about duality and that is what I love to capture in my work.
