Page Jones Davis was born in Atlanta and now resides in Inman, South Carolina.Davis’s work is created with the intention of defining a visual space that evokes emotions such as curiosity, intimacy, playfulness, and chance. Inspiration comes from the aesthetic of the modern marketplace found in places such as advertisements, apps, catalogs, and stores. Juxtaposing this aesthetic with glimpses of the artist’s hand signifies the importance of human contact in a culture that is becoming more and more communicative but ironically, less connected. The work encourages the viewer to bring their own experiences to an open-ended dialogue, in which there is an implied invitation for them to become a part of the story. She recently received her MA from the Savannah College of Art and Design. Her abstract paintings were recently exhibited in a group exhibition entitled siblings at the Spartanburg Museum of Art. Artist Statement“The infinite color combinations in nature and in the material, world alike is etched into my mind. That bright green patch of moss I saw on my walk that stood out so boldly against the dead winter leaves had such strength and grace. That wacky color combination in a gorgeous fabric was unapologetically loud. The nature of color and its complexities is the fuel for my work. The story that ensues as color becomes form is my fire.”
