Samuel Lawson Booth was born in Leeds, Yorkshire in 1836. He taught at the Leeds School of Art, and was an Art Master at Bradford Technical College. In 1902, at the command of King Edward 7th, he traveled to Egypt and Israel, created dozens of sensitive and luminous paintings of the sights there, and exhibited them back home. He also painted scenes from around Europe, sweeping mountainous vistas glowing in meticulously observed light. He died in 1928 at age 91. Sources include:ArtNet, https://www.askart.com/artist/Samuel_Lawson_Booth/11090013/Samuel_Lawson_Booth.aspxStern Gallery, https://sterngallery.art/booth-samuel-lawson/
