Jason Brueck is a digital artist based in Nashville, TN combining found and original images to create surrealist landscapes. He draws inspiration from images both past and present, light and dark, oftentimes combining the two in hopes of creating a counterbalanced symmetry. Brueck’s astronaut series began with a photoshoot with him and his brother. He rented a studio-quality astronaut replica suit in Hollywood. Brueck convinced his brother and a friend to “play astronaut” for a day and conducted the shoot. Brueck then transposed the photos into various settings to represent the exploration of the surrealist landscapes he creates. His work has been purchased by over 15 universities, multiple high-end hotels and apartment developments, and published in several magazines and books, including Bill Murray’s The Art of Being Bill and Best Wishes, Warmest Regards, an art book from the hit television series Schitt’s Creek. “My goal is to take the seemingly unimaginable and make it a visual reality by blurring the lines between the real and the surreal, creating a story where final interpretation is open to multiple realizations. There are a number of paths in my work...which one is ultimately chosen is left for you to decide.” —Jason Brueck
