Kathy Burk has an extensive fine art background including a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Design. While practicing commercial Interior Design, she struggled to find artistic lighting that enhanced the interior. So, she designed a floor lamp. While exploring the local stained-glass store, Kathy was immediately enchanted by the many colors and textures of glass. This discovery marked the beginning of her new career as a glass artist. From her studio in Sheridan, Montana, Burk’s goal is to capture the beauty of nature in kiln-formed glass artwork. The fused glass designs are abstracted representations found in the geology and natural environment of the West. Since 2015, Kathy has participated in the “Inspired by Yellowstone” visiting artist program in Yellowstone National Park, has been published in Western Art and Architecture, Mosaic Arts International and Whitefish Review.
