"I am drawn to the material of glass for the sensuous softness of hotglass, its speed and grace, and to the sheer joy of glass working." - William Bernstein Bernstein glass is produced by a collaboration of glass artists Katherine and William Bernstein. Most of the imagery is achieved by drawing directly on the hot glass using colored glass rods and a torch. Each piece is hand blown by the artists without the use of molds or patterns. Katherine and William Bernstein have been on the forefront of the art glass movement for over forty years. Their work is known for its vigorous use of color and imagery. It is represented in public collections worldwide, including Hokkaido Museum of Art in Hokkaido, Japan, the Corning Museum of Glass in Corning, New York and the Craft and Folk Art Museum in Los Angeles, California. William has taught glass making extensively, including at Pilchuck Glass School in Washington, Penland School of Craft in North Carolina, Haystack Mountain School of Craft in Maine and Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design in Israel.
