Linda James grew up in Rome, Georgia as the oldest of 5 children. Her mother had a great eye for fashion and home although their family did not have a lot of discretionary income to enjoy her talents. Linda loved to draw from a young age and advanced to drawing friends' portraits when she was in high school. Her parents always encouraged her artistic endeavors and framed much of her college work to hang in their home. She believes that people are created with the interest, and encouragement takes us onward, which is exactly what her parents did for her. Linda enjoys observing scenes and people for shapes and colors and takes inspiration not only from others' work in museums, Degas is a favorite for his compositions, color, texture etc., but also from simply browsing a craft store or a creative shop. Through her work, Linda aims to share God's word in a way that touches others and perhaps awakens a desire to know Him better. Linda received her Bachelor of Visual Arts at Auburn University and continued with advanced studies at the University of Georgia, The Penland School of Arts in North Carolina, and the Darlington School in Rome, Georgia, among others. She has been featured in many national publications including Art and Antiques Magazine and Atlanta Homes and Lifestyles and her work hangs in various private collections in both The United States and abroad.
