Rod Massey paints everyday urban scenes and imbues them with a sense of buoyancy. Rod's interest lies in finding the " underlying character" of unremarkable houses, stretches of highway, and work trucks. Rod writes, "While my art is rooted in traditional painting, my intent is to convey a deeper, more personal and contemporary insight into my environment. Distortions of perspective, space, color and light all define the regionalist nature of my personal vision and experience. " Rod holds a BFA from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design and has been in many group and solo exhibitions throughout the Midwest and in New York. His paintings are in the collections of the Minneapolis Institute of Art, 3M Company, General Mills, and Target Corporation. Rod resides in Minneapolis.
