Maryann Brummer’s current work is colorful and contemporary. Landscape, cityscape, floral and still life are frequent subjects. The natural world is a favorite focus. She enjoys what the landscape gives her when painting on-site outdoors, known as painting en plein air. Whether it’s colorful light, clear water, cold rain-soaked mornings or frequently a surprising change in weather conditions, she welcomes it. Her work shows an eye for large shapes: chunks of mountain, pools of water and the structure of buildings. Maryann paints in oils. Maryann’s has been painting fulltime since 2011 when she retired from her business in leadership training; before this, she painted in every free moment. Her works have received recognition in national and regional competitions. Works have been invited for exhibition at Salon International, Outdoor Painters Society: Plein Air Southwest Plein Air Event and Salon shows, American Plains Artists Juried Show, Oil Painters of America Showcase, Preservation is the Art of the City, Rio Brazos Art Exhibit, and Breckenridge Fine Arts Center.
