John Mann (1903-1970) was an American painter best known for his figurative works, portraiture and still lifes. Born in Cape Cod, MA, Mann studied at the Boston Museum School of Fine Art before embarking on a career as an artist. During his lifetime, he had the distinction of being one of the only American painters whose work was acquired by prominent New Yorker Frederic Clay Bartlett (1873-1953), an early board member of the Museum of Modern Art and one of the most significant collectors of French Post-Impressionist and modernist art.
